Despite high anticipation, Final Fantasy XVI’s release on Xbox has stumbled out of the gate, with only 22,000 copies sold in its first week—raising questions about platform demand, marketing strategy, and timing of the port.

According to Alinea Analytics, after just one week of sales, the #Xbox edition of Final Fantasy XVI has only sold about 22,000 copies. This figure is significantly less than what I had anticipated.
If we talk about Final Fantasy XVI in PS5, they sold about 3 million copies and 300,000 copies on PC in their opening weeks. This reflects a significant drop, roughly about 10% of the previous platform’s sales with each new release. The pattern suggest that timed exclusivity may no longer be effective as it was before.
The game “final fantasy XVI is available for $50 on Xbox and $70 including 2 DLC expansions.
They had launched the game simultaneously on platforms like PC and Xbox, where the total sales might be higher . Instead they delayed the release, which leads to loose interest with many players either purchasing on first available platform, waiting for a better discount or loosing interest completely by the time the game becomes available elsewhere.
